We all woke up this morning to the news that there was a hung parliament – no one party secured enough seats to claim an overall majority and we are now faced with the prospect of hours if not days of negotiations before we know who will be forming the next government.
The last time we saw a result like this was back in 1974 – by all accounts the election has been the most tightly fought battle in years. Throughout the election campaign all three parties tried their best to persuade us of their leadership abilities in an attempt to get our vote. Judging by the outcome of the election, all three leaders could have done more to ensure they came out of the election with the majority they needed.
A recent Leadership Survey in search of the single most important attribute of a leader found the highest two scores to be ‘can turn vision into reality’ and ‘is able to motivate the people reporting to him/her’. Did the leadership skills of the three potential PMs let them down? (more…)
